"This is expected from you"- Why?????

I just had a random argument about restrictions put on girls, and the "behavior"expected from them.
My point of argument was why would u have expectations?
why cant they be just who they are..not every one is alike!!?
answer.. society and marriage.
The family name attached to the girl is always taken to consideration..what she wears, how she talks,her behavior?
and the standard dialogue..."Is this how you'll behave in our married household.??"
So am I living my life up to know just to please someone, i never met???
does this even make sense???
I know the world is bad out there.. but being sheltered is suffocating..
I want to get out..
